Chapter 35: Should have said no

Posted on October 29, 2017December 16, 2024 by Elle

Well, this is just fucking fantastic. As soon as I landed on USA soil, my phone started going crazy  with notifications. I had 7 voice mails from Chris and about 10 texts. The last one saying “I guess you are done with me but I’m going to give it one last shot. I’ll call you…

Chapter 34: I did something bad

Posted on October 22, 2017December 13, 2024 by Elle

I ended up spending a total of 6 weeks in Europe.  Scotland. France. Switzerland. Hungary. Serbia. Montenegro. Czech Republic. Germany. I discovered that I absolutely LOVE cross-country skiing I spent a week with Emilee in Chamonix and it was magical. The Alps in winter are next level. I’ve never been a winter person, but if…

Chapter 33: Paris

Posted on October 15, 2017December 11, 2024 by Elle

After spending time in Edinburgh, I thought about what to do next. I wasn’t ready to go home. Something wasn’t right; I couldn’t place my finger on it, but Chris still hadn’t answered my texts from NYE. Or calls. Idk what’s going on with him, but I decided to not let it interfere with my…

Chapter 32: Illicit affairs

Posted on October 8, 2017December 30, 2024 by Elle

I don’t think I even told Chris what I had intended to tell him. After yet another on-call night fueled with sex and cocaine, I began to think this might be a little too regular occurrence when Chris hit me with the ‘well, you should see what I do when you aren’t here.’ and to…

Chapter 31: Flashes of light

Posted on October 1, 2017December 11, 2024 by Elle

The conversation with Chris did not go as planned. Perhaps neither of us were in the right frame of mind for such. After all, we were in a phase. Kinda hard to describe phase, but suffice to say all the partying I didn’t do as a rebellious teenager, Chris and I were doing now. Drug…

Chapter 30: Pale Green Stars

Posted on September 24, 2017December 9, 2024 by Elle

I woke up, choking for air, strangling even. When I opened my eyes, all I she saw were the pale, green stars on the ceiling and walls. It reminded my of my childhood bedroom. Where am I? I thought. Certainly not in my childhood bedroom I answered myself. I looked around, my eyes trying to…

Peace Corps Interview

Posted on August 26, 2017December 9, 2024 by Elle

Interviews are not my favorite thing. Now coming from someone who has blogged for 10+ years this next statement may seem a bit out of context.  I don’t really like talking about myself.  I don’t like tooting my own horn, and I really don’t like talking about ‘failures’. Any interview can be daunting, but getting ready…

Blast from the past

Welcome to On Sunday Morning. I’m the voice behind the blog and the person behind the camera. I’m an eager explorer, wannabe writer, capable chef, creative conversationalist, aging athlete, and proficient photographer. Queer in its original meaning is an apt adjective to describe me. I even have a day job working in healthcare. Social media is making us sad; let’s go for a walk somewhere together or trade tales around a campfire.

"I'm a big believer in winging it. I'm a big believer that you're never going to find perfect city travel experience or the perfect meal without a constant willingness to experience a bad one. Letting the happy accident happen is what a lot of vacation itineraries miss, I think, and I'm always trying to push people to allow those things to happen rather than stick to some rigid itinerary."
